Zaria Carr Twin City GA Murder-Suicide: 27-Year-Old Woman Dies in Apparent Murder-Suicide, GBI Investigating

The small community of Twin City, Georgia, is reeling after the heartbreaking death of 27-year-old Zaria Khadejah Carr, who was found deceased in her home late Saturday night. Authorities believe her passing may have resulted from a tragic domestic violence incident that escalated into a suspected murder-suicide. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has since taken over the investigation to uncover the full details behind the case.

The incident occurred on the evening of June 14, 2025, when emergency personnel from the Twin City Police Department and Emanuel County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a residence located on 5th Avenue. EMS units also arrived on scene.

When officers entered the home, they discovered Zaria Carr unresponsive. Despite emergency efforts, she was sadly declared dead at the scene. Due to the nature of the situation, a full-scale investigation was immediately launched.

Zaria’s husband, 36-year-old Shamarcus Jameal Carr, was quickly identified as a person of interest. However, he was no longer at the scene when police arrived, and Zaria’s 2021 Dodge Challenger was also reported missing. An alert was issued for the vehicle and Shamarcus’s whereabouts.

Just over an hour later, law enforcement in Wayne County, Georgia—nearly 90 miles away—spotted the vehicle. As deputies attempted to pull it over, Shamarcus was found driving the car. Before officers could apprehend him, he tragically turned the weapon on himself. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but later succumbed to his self-inflicted injuries.

The GBI continues its investigation into Zaria’s death, while Wayne County officials are handling the separate investigation into Shamarcus’s suicide. Autopsy results from the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office are pending and will determine Zaria’s official cause and manner of death.

“This is a truly devastating and complicated case,” said a GBI spokesperson. “We are doing everything possible to ensure the full truth comes to light.”

As of now, the case remains active, and investigators are asking the public to assist in any way possible. Anyone with helpful information is urged to contact the GBI’s Eastman Regional Office at 478-374-6988, or reach out directly to the Twin City Police Department at 478-763-4140. This tragic loss has left friends, family, and neighbors deeply shaken, as the community grapples with the reality of such a painful and violent ending. Zaria Carr’s life was cut short in a way no one could have anticipated, and her memory now stands as a solemn reminder of the devastating effects of domestic violence.
