Thomas Fincher Accident: 41-Year-Old Fort Worth, Texas Man and Spit Blood TCU Co-Founder Passed Away Following Fatal Accident

The Fort Worth community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Thomas Edward Fincher, a deeply respected husband, father, and friend who passed away on June 11, 2025, at the age of 41. A man known for his faith, integrity, and unwavering love for his family, Thomas leaves behind a powerful legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Born on October 20, 1983, in Houston, Texas, Thomas was raised in Austin, where his early years were filled with laughter, curiosity, and the values that would guide him throughout life. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 2002 and went on to attend Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. It was at TCU that Thomas truly came into his own—earning a degree in Business with an Emphasis in Leadership and joining the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, where he formed bonds that would last a lifetime.

College also brought Thomas face to face with the love of his life, Laura Kay Friesen. Their love story began on campus and blossomed into a marriage rooted in faith, laughter, and shared purpose. The couple wed on August 17, 2013, in a beautiful ceremony at Hotel Del Coronado in California. Together, they built a life full of joy, devotion, and meaningful memories—anchored by their shared love of TCU and their deep commitment to one another.

Thomas was a proud and loving father to his two sons, Gibson and Walter. Whether cheering from the sidelines, exploring the outdoors, or simply sharing a laugh at home, Thomas embraced every moment of fatherhood with passion and grace. He led his family with quiet strength, offering steady support and boundless affection. He was the kind of dad who showed up—not just physically, but emotionally—day after day.

In his professional life, Thomas was a creative thinker and driven leader. He served in the Governor of Texas’ campaign advance team and co-founded Spit Blood TCU, a fan blog that resonated with Horned Frogs supporters across the state. He also co-launched Wash 'N Run in Austin alongside his twin brother, Emory, showcasing his entrepreneurial drive. For over a decade, Thomas built a successful career in the oil and gas industry in Fort Worth, earning widespread respect for his reliability, integrity, and calm leadership.

But perhaps what most defined Thomas was his quiet, steadfast faith. He lived out his beliefs not just in words, but in the way he treated others—with kindness, humility, and generosity. He never sought accolades, but his life left a lasting impact. He made others feel seen, supported, and loved. His gentle presence could uplift a room, and his thoughtful actions often spoke louder than words.

Thomas is survived by his devoted wife, Laura; their two sons, Gibson and Walter; his parents, Debbie and John Fincher; his twin brother, Emory, and sister-in-law Lauren and their children, Vivian and Stroud; his in-laws, Andrea and Gip Friesen; and his sisters-in-law Leeanne Haglund (husband Hunter, children Preston, William, Hannah, and Patrick) and Lacey Luce (husband Chase, children Griffin, Emma Jane, and Watson). He is also mourned by his aunts, cousins, and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends.

A memorial service to honor Thomas’s life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 800 W 5th St, Fort Worth, Texas. In a heartfelt tribute to his TCU spirit, attendees are encouraged to wear purple or bright, joyful colors.

Though Thomas’s life ended far too soon, his influence remains eternal. His legacy lives on through the lives he touched—the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the community he served with love. He will be deeply missed, and forever honored.

Rest in peace, Thomas Fincher. Your light continues to shine in all who were lucky enough to know you.
